FBI Background Request

Verify Group, Inc. is an FBI-approved company providing FBI Criminal History Reports in compliance with U.S. Departmental Order 556-73, under the regulatory authority of 28CFR16.30-34. We provide fingerprinting services via our network for submitting to the U.S. Department of State/FBI, which can be used for:

  • Reviewing, correcting, or challenging the CHRI content in a FBI Report
  • Requesting for court-related purposes
  • Meeting requirements to live, work, or travel in a foreign country.
  • Adopting a child (some states require state specific or local background checks).
  • Sending results directly to your attorney to ensure fair and accurate legal representation.

You MUST be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident before proceeding with this process

What is involved with the Departmental Order 556-73 Background Check?

  1. Register on the personal account on the FBI Applicant Services website
  2. Enter your demographics data online
  3. Select EM3 Replacement – Verify Group, Inc. as your printing location
  4. Pick an appointment time online
  5. Pay for the transaction using a major credit card
  6. Receive Appointment Reminders via email and text message
  7. Receive an email notification when the FBI responds
  8. View FBI Report by logging in
  9. Print FBI Authenticated PDF document (with FBI Seal) for Apostille processing

To get started, take the following steps:

  1. Register for a personal account
  2. Select the “Register” tab
  3. Enter your Email and all the information requested from “STEP 1” to “STEP 4” tabs/sections on the screen.
  4. You will receive an Activation Email from [email protected].
    • If you do not receive an email, please check your spam email box
  5. Click on the linkprovided in the Activation Email; this will take you to a specific section of https://www.ApplicantServices.com/FBI-Channeler/Departmental-Order-556-73 to continue your registration.
  6. Be sure to have access to a cellular phone from one of the supported U.S. Carriers.

You will now start the second half of the registration process – “New User Activation”

Click on the the tab sections below to learn more about the subsequent verification steps.

  1. Enter your Cellular Phone Number (2 times)
  2. Select a Carrier from the drop down.
  3. Click <Next>
  4. You will receive a single use Access Code on your phone (if you do not receive the Access Code, try again in 10 minutes)
  1. Enter in the Access Code from your phone
  2. Click <Activate>

You will see a Confirmation screen. Congratulations! You are now ready to log in.

Terms and Conditions

  • The FBI Criminal History Records Information (CHRI) also known as the “rap sheet” contains arrest, conviction, and sentencing information from all 50 U.S. States, the District of Columbia, and U.S. Territories of Puerto Rico, Guam, and Virgin Islands.
  • Your CHRI Report includes record dates; names and aliases associated with arrests; arrest charges; arrest dispositions (if available); which authority contributed the record to the FBI; and information pertaining to military service, naturalization, or federal employment.
  • Results are typically available within 24 hours under the History section of this website.
  • This service is only available to individuals that are U.S. Citizens or Legal Permanent Residents (a.k.a. “Permanent Resident Alien,” “Resident Alien Permit Holder,” or “Green Card Holder”).
  • Results cannot be used for employment and/or licensing purposes within the United States. These types of requests should be coordinated with the appropriate state identification bureau (or state police) for the correct procedures.
  • You must bring two forms of photo identification to your LiveScan Service Center appointment.  At least one form must be a government-issued photo identification (e.g. Driver License, State ID, military ID, or Passport).
  • In the rare event (less than 2%) your transaction is rejected by the FBI (typically for poor quality fingerprints), you may go back to the same service center for free reprocessing within 90 days from the original transaction.
  • FBI Report/CHRI/Results are purged from our server after 30 days. You may print the results before purging of your records occurs.
  • Challenges to the FBI Results must be made directly with the contributing agency. You may mail requests to: FBI CJIS Division, Attn: Correspondence Group, 1000 Custer Hollow Road, Clarksburg, WV 26306
